PORTER'S DRUG USE
I couldn't agree more with the Aug. 18 commentary by Steve Pasierb,
president of Partnership for a Drug-Free America. Porter's drug use points
us all in the same direction.
Prevention is the most effective weapon we have in the fight against drugs.
Over the years we have seen cheaper and more accessible drugs, yet the
number of regular drug users in America has dropped roughly 40 percent
since 1985.
If parents can use Darrell Porter's life as a way of talking with their
kids about the reasons not to get involved with drugs, then Porter will
record a bigger assist than any he ever had behind the plate.
