DISTRICT BETTER, SO STOP THE LAND GRAB

I have been a student, graduate, parent and taxpayer in the Southwest
School District since 1965. I would like thank the city and state for
everything they have done for this district. We have a dump, a state
prison (which does not pay taxes), a grease-pit dump for commercial
businesses, an area for inner-city dope dealers to dump bodies and
Texas A&M (also exempt from taxes).

Mayor Ed Garza suggests we give up about 40 percent of our tax base to
set up an Alamo Heights-type school district. Thanks, but no thanks. I
have seen Alamo Heights facilities and we'll stick with Southwest. We
have never asked for a handout from San Antonio.

If San Antonio is successful at stealing our land, does it plan on
covering the bond payments Southwest voters have approved, since we
will not need as much classroom space?

We don't need you, and we don't want to be a part of your land grab.
Take care of the problems in your own back yard. Storm drainage for
Woodlawn Lake would be a good start.
