FORMER NARCOM CHIEF PROPOSES RADICAL SOLUTION TO DRUG PROBLEM

Former Narcotics Command Chief Percival Adiong has proposed a radical
solution to the country's drug woes: Kill the pushers and jail the users.

Adiong, said he had been pushing for the execution of pushers and the
jailing of users during his term as Narcom Chief.

He said 52 pushers were killed in the 53 days of his incumbency.

"Parents should not be blamed for the drug problem but the pushers
themselves," he said.

Adiong even raised suspicions that he was removed from the NARCOM because
he had a way of tracking down the drug addicts that would pinpoint the drug
lords.

He said there are people in the law enforcement arm and the government who
are afraid of his stint with NARCOM because he would have gotten them had
he stayed longer.

Adiong's pronouncements drowned out the significance of the press
conference, which was to introduce eight candidates for the Miss Negros
Oriental High School Centennial.

Adiong, who is one of 27 NOHS alumni, have been chosen as one of
"Centennial Awardees" on Sept 2, also answered questions on cellphone
snatching and other crimes.
