GET OFF THE POT REGARDING POT

Regarding the Aug. 27 story Feds firm on medicinal pot:

Health Minister Anne McLellan's prevarications simply don't bear out. If
safety, efficacy and long-term effects are considerations to be taken
seriously, one can only wonder about all the medications that were
rubber-stamped by Health Canada only to be recalled after numerous
fatalities have occurred. How is it they have not been subject to the same
rigors that McLellan would have Canadians believe is necessary for cannabis?

There has never been a single fatality attributed to cannabis abuse, never
mind monitored usage. Aspirin, which anybody can purchase over the counter,
can't make that claim. Nor can dozens of prescribed medications Health
Canada's approved.

Considering cannabis has been used since antiquity and has been the subject
of more studies and research papers than perhaps any medication on the
market, enough is enough.
