DOPE LAWS

To the editor:

Regarding the recent article regarding Washoe County D.A. Dick Gammick
stating that Nevada would not be able to profit from the sale of marijuana.
I have two words: states' rights.

While George Bush has backtracked from his campaign promise of "leaving it
up to the states to decide," ballot initiatives such as Question 9 and the
already passed medical marijuana proposals in nine other U.S. states will
ensure that America stays a country free of an overbearing government.

States have the right to make and enforce their own laws as voted by the
will of their people. The federal government may disagree, and that is why
Question 9 is so important. Question 9 is about more than marijuana, it's
about "the will of the people." The American people want our marijuana laws
reformed.

Nevada, you have the success of nine other U.S. states and the will of the
American people behind you. Make us proud.
