DEMOCRACY? THINK AGAIN

Re: Health minister is on bad trip, (Aug. 26). I'll assume Penni Mitchell
was on vacation, or perhaps sleeping, when, during a recent televised
interview, the U.S. drug czar informed Canadians, in no uncertain terms,
that if Canada moved to do anything on the classification of marijuana as a
controlled substance, the U.S. would impose trade sanctions against Canada.

The deep pockets Ms Mitchell speaks of are the deep pockets that control
the government. Thinking you live in a democracy, and actually living in a
"true" democracy, are two entirely different things. Canadians and
Americans have been duped by capitalists into believing that if they give
you a vote, you live in a democracy. How naive. A de-mock-racy, maybe.
