POLICE CHIEF PANS LEGAL POT
A call by a Senate committee Wedensday for the legalization of marijuana
has been condemned by Delta Police Chief Jim Cessford.
Cessford, who is also chair of the B.C. Association of Police Chiefs,
described the proposal as "disappointing" in a statement released
yesterday, Sept. 5.
"I do not condone the use or legalization of any such illicit drug,"
Cessford said, calling drug use and abuse "a key public safety issue" and
"a contributing factor in a significant amount of crime and public harm."
