Dear Friend of Drug Policy Reform:
There is a great deal happening and DrugSense/MAP is running at full tilt.
To keep up this pace we need to ask you to help us by making as generous a
contribution as you are able to donate. To do so please see:
http://www.drugsense.org/donate.htm Additional info is posted below.
Can you believe all of the exciting developments? This fall, Nevadans will
vote on legalizing the possession of marijuana in small amounts, and
Arizonans will see marijuana decriminalization on their ballots. A
treatment instead of incarceration initiative will be voted on in Ohio, and
South Dakotans will decide if juries should not only hear the facts of a
case, but also decide the fairness of the law on which its trial is based.
Even before this political season has begun, ads condemning his stance on
medical marijuana appear to have been instrumental in defeating
Representative Bob Barr, one of the worst drug warriors in Congress. All of
this represents only the tip of the iceberg and a very real beginning to
the end of the War on Drugs.
What brought this about? You. People like you see the injustice in a "war"
on chemical substances, and people like you give their time and money to
organizations like DrugSense. As one of the most respected and progressive
drug policy reform organizations, DrugSense and its largest endeavor, the
Media Awareness Project (MAP), have brought honesty, accuracy, and common
sense to this debate through a variety of programs designed to educate the
media and give voice to those with our common mission.
What makes DrugSense so special is its ability to offer so many ways to
make a difference. You can author Letters to the Editor (LTE) or add to our
archive of drug-policy-related articles. You can speak with the leaders of
reform or ordinary citizens like yourself at forums in our chat rooms. And,
if you want to start a non-profit group yourself, DrugSense can provide the
Internet resources to get you going.
But, if you are short on the time, there's one more very important way to
help. Please consider making a monetary donation to DrugSense. As a
501(c)(3) organization, gifts to DrugSense are tax deductible to the full
extent provided by law. We appreciate any amount, large or small.
Donating is easy. You can even use your credit card. Please visit
http://www.drugsense.org/donate.htm. If you prefer to mail a check, please
make it payable to
DrugSense or MAP Inc
and send it to:
PO Box 651, Porterville, CA 93258
We know it takes all of us, whether contributing time or money, to make so
much happen. So stay tuned. This fall could be a big turning point for drug
policy reform, and your help will make it possible.
My sincere thanks for your continued support of DrugSense and MAP.
