D.A.R.E. IS EFFECTIVE

Drug Abuse Resistance Education, that's what it's all about for our
children. I am appalled and outraged by the decision that's being made all
over Salt Lake County and other surrounding counties to stop this early
educational program.

D.A.R.E. is an educational program geared toward drug and alcohol
prevention that gives these young children extra added support. For some
children the D.A.R.E. program is all they have to look to for help, because
their parents are addicted to drugs. Over the years I have seen a great
change in the fight against drugs and alcohol for our children thanks to
the D.A.R.E. program. Prevention that promotes lasting improvement in
individuals and families in the reduction of substance abuse is what the
D.A.R.E. program is all about. Don't give up on our precious little
children of the future. I myself am a recovering drug addict and know
firsthand of the importance this program has in our children's lives.

If D.A.R.E. was made available to me growing up, I am confident I would not
be where I am today. Please think of our children, and the difference the
D.A.R.E. program has made.
