GO DIRECTLY TO JAIL
Editor -- Debra J. Saunders has recently written two outstanding
columns calling for the release of people who are serving unreasonable
prison terms (Sept. 5 and April 30). However, Saunders misses an
important point: In the Bush administration, incarceration issues are
directed by U.S. Attorney General "Jail'em John" Ashcroft who is
dedicated to increasing the prison population, not reducing it.
