JUDGE NIXES POT IN JAIL
HALIFAX -- A Nova Scotia man's fight for marijuana in prison has gone to pot.
A Nova Scotia Supreme Court judge rejected yesterday a request by Michael
Patriquen, who said a prison term without marijuana would violate his
charter rights.
Patriquen, of Halifax, has permission to smoke pot for medicinal purposes.
He suffers from chronic neck pain stemming from a 1999 car crash.
But before he received permission to smoke marijuana, Patriquen was
arrested on drug charges. He pleaded guilty.
