CRIME WILL RISE HERE IF CANADA LEGALIZES POT

Has anyone in Buffalo appealed to the Canadian government to not legalize
marijuana in that country? If it happens, since we're on the border, we had
better prepare for a return to the gang-warfare violence that plagued this
city in the early 1990s.

With legalization, there is a tremendous amount of money to be made. Drug
dealers from other parts of the country will swarm here again to stake
territory for the processing of dope to and from Canada. And Buffalo is
ripe for these hives to form - its police force is decimated, and property
is relatively cheap compared to other cities.

In other words, everything that would draw legitimate business here also
makes this situation vulnerable to exploit by those wanting to profit from
Canada's decision. I hope we find it in our best interest to take the time
to urge all our Canadian friends to oppose the legalization of marijuana.
