THE FAX ABOUT MARIJUANA
Re "Lockyer assails federal pot operations," Sept. 7: It's about time that
someone in the California administration sent a fax to the Drug Enforcement
Administration. I called them to complain of their actions in our state.
Where are our representatives? I called them too. They're keeping a tally
as to which issues receive more phone calls -- the bust or going to war
with Iraq. Is that how our representatives choose which issues to stand
for? In 1996, 56 percent of Californian voters decided to let patients use
their medicine. Most people assume that the law honors Proposition 215 when
just the opposite is true. The clubs being closed now are some of the
longest running and most compassionate.
We have begged for Lockyer's assistance since he entered office. I am glad
to hear he sent a fax. I hope his fax gets more than a form letter response
that most of us peon citizens get. We've been sending faxes and writing
letters protesting these actions for years.
Lockyer and Sacramento County Sheriff Lou Blanas should be standing between
the feds and California patients. The sheriff has the power to keep out the
DEA. Why doesn't he?
