POT RAID DID NOT HAVE TO HAPPEN

A PPARENTLY, the cowardice of the federal Drug Enforcement Agency is
boundless. While our government busies itself with spreading the half-
truth of illicit drug money funding terrorists, the organization charged
with pursuing such cases spends its energies persecuting an utterly
innocent collective (``Agents seize couple, plants at pot farm,'' Page 1B,
Sept. 6).

Does the current administration even pay attention to the stunts their drug
warriors are pulling?

Marijuana helps cancer victims survive. Federal law gives the DEA power to
intervene and steal medicine, but I caution agents that it doesn't give
them moral authority. Were you just following orders? Before you answer,
recall that society now knows this as the ``Nuremburg Defense.''
