TOKERS ARE MELLOW
RE: "Time to smoke out farce," Licia Corbella, Sept. 8.
I have never smoked a joint and in all likelihood I may never. Yet, I live
and work in the darkness of the night as a taxi driver where many people do
puff the good stuff. My preference would be that no one use alcohol or
other drugs, however, if they choose to, then I encourage them to "light
up" rather than "bottoms up."
Booze ignites people's anger, frustrations and inhibitions, frequently
turning them into violent people. It's been my observation that a "draw"
makes them mellow, gives them the munchies, the giggles or makes them
highly interested in hugs. When governments can tax a joint to replace
taxes they will lose on the reduced sale of alcohol, they will make it
legal. It's as simple as that!
