NEIGHBOURS HELP RCMP OUST ALLEGED DEALERS

A group of Minnie Road neighbours were an important part of the Sooke RCMP
arresting a pair of alleged drug dealers.

For more than a month the residents monitored cars coming and going from
the 1772 Minnie Road bungalow.

"They were up in arms," said Sooke Staff Sgt. Don Brown, crediting them for
playing a big role in the eventual arrests. "Some people made complaints to
us. ... Eventually it came to fruition."

It did on Saturday morning when the RCMP executed a search warrant. Three
males were arrested and two were still in custody Monday. A 15-year-old
boy, who was living under the guardianship of the main cocaine dealer, was
released to relatives, Brown said.

The RCMP seized 35 grams of cocaine, hundreds of dollars in cash, about 50
grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a possibly stolen motorcycle.
Brown said charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking are
pending, as well as possibly others. He said names could not be released at
this time.
