LANDLORD ASSOCIATION SUPPORTS POLICE ACTION

EDITOR'S NOTE: The following letter is addressed to Chief Carl Herder.

Sir: Re: "New form of drug seizure," April 13 Chatham Daily News.

The Chatham-Kent Landlord Association is in full support of the
Chatham-Kent Police using the new law to go after properties where
drugs are a continuous problem.

The Chatham-Kent Landlord Association is an association in the
Municipality of Chatham-Kent comprised of over 80 landlords. The
Chatham-Kent Landlord Association is in strong support of legislation
that deters illegal activity that has a significant impact on the
freedom and the quality of life of members within the Municipality of
Chatham-Kent.

Landlords who continuously rent to drug dealers, are aware of the
activity and take no action to stop it, should lose their property.
This illegal activity brings to the neighbourhood and the community a
significant amount of detrimental illegal activity (thefts, violence,
prostitution, etc), emotional damage and financial damage (property
damage and theft, decrease in property value, inability to rent
rental properties, municipal tax dollars and federal and provincial
tax dollars etc). For these landlords to lose their property is a
small price to pay compared to the impact they have on the community.
These landlords are profiting from illegal activity that feeds from
hard working people.

If you need any further support to help you achieve your goal, please
give me a call.

Working together to make our community a better place to live in.

Kevin Yaxley

President
