PRISONER SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET HIS POT

To the editor:

I would like to comment on the Michael Patriquen story (Jailed Man 'In
Serious Pain' Without His Pot, Wife Says, The Daily News, Sept. 25).

I have no use for illegal drugs, but if a person has a prescription for a
specific drug for medical treatment, then he has a constitutional right to
that drug, even if he is in jail.

Who cares that the other inmates don't have access to marijuana?

An easy solution would be to take Patriquen to a separate room, away from
the other inmates, and let him get his medical treatment. I'm sure inmates
get prescriptions for medical problems.

This is no different.

Giving Patriquen Tylenol for his pain is like giving a migraine sufferer
cough medicine to relieve his agony.
