ROUNDUP OF SANTA CRUZ POT USERS IRRESPONSIBLE

Re: "Rebels against drug war," Aug. 13 editorial.

On Sept. 5, the Bush administration sent 30 DEA agents to raid a
medical marijuana dispensary legally operating in Santa Cruz, Calif.,
under the guidelines set forth by the people of California.

The Bush administration has repeatedly asserted that money from drugs
fuels terrorism. But targeting medical marijuana users and their
caregivers is an act of official irresponsibility. It is an heinous
crime against humanity, against the most vulnerable of our citizens.

It is nothing less than an act of evil, and the Bush administration
should be held accountable in a trial by Congress for its actions.
