BABY'S CRIES LEAD POLICE TO MARIJUANA

TWO North Vancouver teenagers have been charged with possessing
marijuana for the purposes of trafficking after Mounties went to check
on the well-being of a baby early Sunday evening and seized 600 grams
of marijuana.

Police said they entered the home in response to a call from a
concerned citizen about hearing a baby crying. Instead, they found the
marijuana, a 17-year-old male and his 15-year-old girlfriend in a
bedroom of a house in the 3500-block of Everglade Place.

They located the baby at another location later in the evening "safe
and well-supervised."

Both youths have been charged under the Young Offenders' Act and their
names cannot be divulged. They were released on their own recognizance
and are scheduled to appear in North Vancouver provincial court on
Sept. 30.

The Ministry for Children and Families has been advised of the
incident and police are asking anyone with information about this case
to contact the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311.
