STRICKLAND AND DRUG WAR
Re: "Strickland fights corporate image; After '96 loss in Senate race,
lawyer hopes voters see regular guy in rematch," Sept. 22 news story.
An alternative appraisal might be to see Strickland as a regular drug- war
prosecutor, a role he cheerfully and energetically assumed during the
Clinton administration. Voters supporting drug-policy reform will support
Sen. Allard or another candidate of their choice, but not Tom Strickland,
in whose interest it will always be that the horrendous human-rights crimes
of the drug warriors, in particular the federal prosecutors, remain
shrouded from the public eye.
