OFFICER FACING 3 CHARGES RESIGNS FROM CITY FORCE
A veteran Toledo police officer charged with three drug offenses resigned
from the department yesterday.
Dale Jackson, 42, who served 19 years on the force, was relieved of duty
after he was arrested in his home Sept. 9. Investigators serving a search
warrant in the home in the Bancroft Street-Westwood Avenue area found a
small amount of marijuana and a few smoking pipes, police Chief Mike
Navarre said.
Nine days later, Mr. Jackson was charged with having crack cocaine. He is
scheduled to appear in Toledo Municipal Court today on the felony offense.
Mr. Jackson is scheduled to return to court Oct. 16 on two misdemeanor
offenses of possession of drug paraphernalia and drug abuse and possession
of marijuana.
A departmental investigation into the allegations has ended because Mr.
Jackson resigned. Chief Navarre declined comment on the resignation. Gregg
Harris, president of Toledo Police Patrolman's Association, called the
situation unfortunate
