FIGHT FOR THE RIGHT TO ALTER YOUR MIND
Editor,
I'm writing about your thoughtful editorial, No pot for teens (Burnaby NOW,
Sept. 15, 2002).
I disagree with your statement, "But marijuana, unlike tobacco, is a
mind-altering drug.
Tobacco is a mind-altering drug. Why else would tobacco users continue to
use it? Because it makes them feel good.
So are lots of other substances and activities mind-altering. Books,
movies, libraries and schools are all mind-altering. (At least they should be).
It seems to me that adult citizens of a free country should be able to
alter their own mind any way they want, as long as they are not physically
harming other people.
