PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Two honor students threatened with expulsion under a
zero-tolerance drug policy for having an anti-anxiety pill they claimed to
have found on school grounds will be allowed to return to class.

The Escambia County School Board voted unanimously Thursday to let Teresa
Elenz and Suzanne Silcox, both 15, return to Pensacola High on Monday.

School officials found the girls in late August with a clear plastic bag
containing a prescription anti-anxiety pill and sinus tablets.

Teresa said she found the bag on school grounds but was so afraid of the
zero-tolerance policy that she asked her friend Suzanne hold it while she
decided what to do. She eventually decided to flush the pills down the
toilet, but another student reported them.
