ENFORCING FEDERAL POT LAWS (1 OF 2)

The Sept. 21 editorial "Friends of meth/Medical pot raids help drug
traffickers" was obviously based on ideology, not on the facts. Before The
Bee starts proselytizing about no jury anywhere in California that would
convict someone operating a medical marijuana cooperative, perhaps The Bee
should read its own paper. Bee reporter Denny Walsh covered Bryan Epis'
case in which a Sacramento jury in federal court convicted Epis, the ring
leader of the Chico Medical Marijuana Cooperative, of the felony charge of
cultivating marijuana.

How can it be unethical for a federal law enforcement agency to enforce
federal law? Calling law enforcement unethical is questionable journalistic
ethics on the part of The Bee, which bases its shaky argument on untrue or
ignored facts.
