REACH COMPROMISE ON MARIJUANA

Politicians need to examine two facts: One, the government, after more than
a century of trying, has never made the case that the use of marijuana
leads any adult individual to become violent or to commit any acts of
vandalism or theft; two, the government is making the case that the money
spent on the illegal purchase of marijuana ends up in the hands of terrorists.

If the politicians really care about any of this, then it is time for a
compromise. Make smuggling marijuana into the country a capital felony
punishable by death and the interstate trafficking of marijuana a felony
punishable by 25 years in federal prison. Then do the right thing: make it
legal for adults to grow their own for personal consumption.
