TASK FORCE TALKS DRUGS IN OLD FORT

OLD FORT, Ohio - The Seneca County Drug Task Force gave students at Old
Fort High School a first-hand look yesterday at drugs and paraphernalia the
enforcement unit has seized during raids against dealers and users.

Detective Donald Joseph of the Seneca County Sheriff's Office and Detective
Charles Boyer of the Tiffin Police Department conducted the "street
identification course" aimed at educating students about the drugs
available locally and their dangers. The officers discussed the side
effects and other dangers of using or selling such drugs as marijuana,
cocaine, LSD, and ecstasy.

Detective Boyer said the growing number of teenagers in the United States
makes drug education efforts especially important. By 2005, he said, it
will be the largest age group in the country. "That's ... why our unit
focuses their efforts in the high schools to attempt to educate our teenagers."
