A story about the Great Midwest Marijuana Harvest Festival in Monday's
Communities section incorrectly paraphrased remarks by Rep. Mark Pocan
about the number of people imprisoned because of marijuana.
What Pocan, D-Madison, said is that there are 21,000 inmates in Wisconsin's
prison system, many because of marijuana related crimes. The state does not
keep an exact count of how many prisoners are locked up for marijuana offenses.
In the same story Monday, Gary Storck of the organization, "Is My Medicine
Legal Yet?" was quoted as saying the federal Drug Enforcement
Administration is "handcuffing" hospital patients. In fact, he said hospice
patients are the ones affected.
