SAY NO TO QUESTION 9

Hopefully the lobbyist from Washington, D.C., who seeks to legalize
marijuana in Nevada, has not deceived the people of Pahrump and surrounding
areas. The petition was circulated deceptively, leading people to believe
it was about medical marijuana, which was legalized in 2000. The
circulators never mentioned that the petition sought to legalize three
ounces of marijuana. The lobbyist would like a person to believe three
ounces of marijuana is equivalent to three packages of cigarettes. Not
true. It will yield between 255-277 cigarettes. There is no restriction on
how often one could buy three ounces. If three ounces were purchased each
day for a week; that would be 1,939 cigarettes. That's dealers' supply. So
we can be assured that legalization will create new dealers who will target
the schools to entice new smokers.

The lobbyist would have you believe that smoking marijuana in the privacy
of one's home is nobody's business. The trouble is, that smoker then goes
out into his car and causes a horrendous accident, wrecking lives and
killing people. A young woman with marijuana in her system struck and
killed those six young people along the side of the highway in Las Vegas. A
young man on marijuana struck a car and killed the mother of four in
Gardnerville. If legalized, your doctor could smoke marijuana before
operating on you, and there would be no penalty. The driver of a school bus
could smoke in his home and then get in the bus to drive your children to
school. If marijuana is legalized, the lobbyist will then fly out of state,
leaving the destruction of many lives behind him, and Nevadans will have to
deal with the mess caused by his mischief.

Don't be deceived. Be sensible. Go to the polls and vote no on 9 in November.
