READERS CONTINUE MARIJUANA DEBATE

The opposition group to Question 9 must be smoking something. The most
recent replacement of the anti-Question-9 spokesperson just goes to show the
desperation these people must be feeling. Those opposed to legalization of
marijuana continue to trot out the same tired propaganda in an attempt to
defeat this measure.

In truth, more has been done to damage our civil liberties in the name of
the 'drug war' than for any other reason. Whether you smoke dope or not (and
I do not), every American is affected by these intrusive drug laws. The
government cannot and should not try to control what adults do in the
privacy of their own homes. Today, cars are confiscated without due process;
some people are put in jail for minor offenses, while drug dealers go free.
It's a damn mess.

Prohibition is a failure, it has always been a failure, and it will always
be a failure. It's time for our nation to try something else, and Nevada
should lead the way.
