BOOZE IS WORSE
To the editor:
In response to the recent article "Question 9: Figures hazy, ad says":
I find it all very amusing. Did anyone ask how many beers your refrigerator
holds? Or how much booze your cabinets can hold? Come on.
Washoe County DA Richard Gammick stated that if the question becomes law,
"I can toke up in front of my kids in the house, drive to work, go into the
privacy of my office and toke all day, get in my car and go home and do it
in front of my kids again." I must ask: Has he ever had alcoholic beverages
in his house in front of his kids?
This whole issue is really about drug of choice. Any adult who has kids and
has ever opened a bottle of beer or any other type of liquor in front of
them has no room to judge those who would rather smoke marijuana. Not to
mention the fact that to those of us who have an illness which consists of
chronic pain, marijuana is a comfort.
The synthetic pain killers that are prescribed and the booze that is
allowed to be sold is far more harmful to the families and businesses in
this state than the use of marijuana will ever be. Prozac, Zoloft, Valium,
and other prescribed drugs are becoming the leading addictive drugs.
Alcohol is the most dangerous drug out there, but we continue to sell it,
eat with it, play with it, and introduce it to our kids as natural for
someone to have a drink. But marijuana -- a naturally grown product --
should not be legal? Where's the logic in that?
