TAFT WAS INSENSITIVE TO QUESTIONER'S PAIN

The Oct. 15 gubernatorial debate included a question from a woman who
suffered terrible pain from an unresolved medical problem that couldn't be
addressed with normal medical painkillers. She asked the candidates if they
would approve the use of medical marijuana in situations such as hers.

Tim Hagan's answer touched me, as he responded to her as one person caring
for another. Bob Taft's response was bureaucratic, stiff and clearly lacked
compassion. Those are not qualities I look for in the leader of our state.

Any person who has seen another experiencing incurable pain would not be as
insensitive as Taft.
