AGENCIES DIVIDE CASH FROM CASES

Three Colorado law enforcement agencies and two drug task forces were
awarded $530,000 cash from assets confiscated in drug cases.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office received $251,970 and the Gilpin County
Sheriff's Department got $201,457, the U.S. attorney's office announced
Thursday.

Most of the money came from the prosecution of Richard and Scott Stoltz,
convicted of growing marijuana in a house near Black Hawk.

The Metro Gang Task Force received $39,760 for work against crack rings;
the West Metro Drug Task Force, $34,076 for its work on an Evergreen
marijuana case; and the Colorado State Patrol, $4,860 for its role in a
traffic stop that led to the seizure of marijuana, prescription pills and
$10,000 cash.

The money came from cash and property seized in the prosecution of drug
operations. Federal law allows the Department of Justice to share forfeited
property with agencies that participated in investigations leading to the
seizures.
