ACCOMPLISHMENTS WERE LOST IN WAKE OF POT ARREST

It is astonishing to me and my family that Placer County officials and
locals continue to claim I do not need medical marijuana. After all, my
wife and I raised and spent a quarter of a million dollars to prove our
innocence and uphold a law we helped to pass.

It is also disappointing that so much ink was spent on my arrest in Canada,
but no mention that the immigration charges were later dismissed as
groundless. The Canadian court ruled that I am not a fugitive, that I
entered Canada legally, that I cannot be deported and that my convictions
in the U.S. are for acts that are not a crime in Canada.

Thanks to Placer County, I've gone from an international ski magazine
publisher to 'fugitive.' My magazines, Ski West and Alpine World, brought
serious tourist dollars to the Reno/Tahoe area. I was the guest of several
governments because of the international popularity of my magazines.

I also served as a member of the Northstar Board of Directors, raised funds
for the fire department and Ski Race Team and even worked with Placer
officials to improve security at Northstar.

I also garnered a respectable 70,000 votes when I ran for governor. Of
course, none of this was ever mentioned in my case and as a result, all
people in Placer will ever know about me is what they've read in the Auburn
Journal.

Let freedom grow.
