CONSIDER Q9 CONSEQUENCES

Regarding Question 9 and the safety of our roads:

In response to the Oct. 21 article, "Driver pleads guilty in death of Sun
exec," I would like to ask citizens to give Question 9 some serious
consideration before casting their votes.

The crash that fatally injured Sandy Thompson was caused by a driver who
was solely under the influence of marijuana. Legalization of marijuana, in
any respect, will bring widespread use of the drug and more "stoned"
drivers than ever to our already treacherous valley roads and freeways.

The fact that driving under the influence of marijuana would remain illegal
is irrelevant. Driving under the influence of alcohol is also illegal, yet
it remains an epidemic in our nation, causing myriad deaths and injuries in
our own back yard.

In my eyes, Question 9 could potentially add even more death and
destruction to our valley roads. So, please consider this very serious
implication of marijuana legalization before casting your votes.
