RE: MINISTER CULTIVATES TOUGHER POT-GROWER PENALTIES
RE "MINISTER cultivates tougher pot-grower penalties," (Nov. 2): The tough
on drug producers and sellers has been tried here in the United States. The
net result is that the former "Land of Liberty" has been transformed into
the most incarcerated country in history.
With fewer than 5% of the world's population, the U. S. has more than 25%
of the world's prisoners. Thanks primarily to our counterproductive war on
certain (politically selected, non-corporate) drugs. (Please note that
certain recreational drugs like Viagra have been excluded for obviously
political reasons.)
My advice to Canada: Carefully observe U. S. drug policy -- then do the
opposite. Don't follow us -- we're lost.
