ALL PART OF STRATEGY

I'd like to clarify your story on drug-sniffing dogs in schools (Peace Arch
News, Oct. 30).

This idea is one part of a developing strategy around improved safety in
schools.

Discussions around drug-sniffing dogs or any other potential enforcement
mechanisms are in the preliminary stages. Extensive consultation with
parents, students and other stakeholders, in conjunction with thorough
policy review and development, would be essential prior to consideration by
the board.

As a result, it is unlikely any implementation could occur within the
current school year.
