DRUG ABUSE AD DOESN'T HAVE INTENDED EFFECT

Dear Editor,

A new ad by the Office of National Drug Control Policy has found its way
onto TV. It goes something like, "This is Dan smoking a joint; this is the
dealer who sold Dan the joint; this is the smuggler who supplied Dan's
dealer; this is the innocent family executed by the cartel for getting in
the way."

There are many reasons for ending drug prohibition, but this ad makes one
of the strongest cases for decriminalization that I've seen. Thank you,
ONDCP, for finally putting our tax dollars to some good use.
