CITY NEEDS MORE POLICE OFFICERS, NOT LESS
To the editor,
(Re: Staff and service cuts.)
I was horrified to read that city council is considering cutting our
police. Apparently someone in the braintrust at city hall thinks that
giving pink slips to four RCMP officers will actually save Richmond
$200,000. What are they smoking?
Don't they realize how much criminal activity costs our community? We have
street racing. We have grow-ops and dealers selling drugs outside our
schools, and the feds think our drugs problem serious enough to make
Richmond its needle-exchange pilot project. We have break and enters, car
thefts, and gang-related violence.
We need more, not less, brave RCMP officers and they need to know that this
community is behind them.
