APPALLING ABROGATION
Toronto - I was deeply disappointed to read the federal Minister of
Health's letter on Nov. 20. Anne McLellan, obviously in response to the
campaign platform on which Vancouver's new mayor was overwhelmingly elected
-- safe injection sites - brazenly says her department has, as yet, no
plan and no budget, yet wishes to forestall the efforts of others pending
the "support of key stakeholders."
The stakeholders voted. If the minister is unable to lead, follow or even
get out of the way, the least she could do is not advertise this
embarrassing abrogation in papers of record.
