To the Editor:
Regarding "Funding boost may not fix prison system" (news story, Nov.
17): Prison spending and school spending go hand in hand. The more a
state spends on prisons the less it generally spends on schools.
Minnesota spends the most of any state on schools and the least of any
state on prisons. Louisiana spends the most on prisons and the least
on schools.
You have a choice. Which is the better investment, schools or
prisons?
