DON'T FOLLOW U.S.' LEAD

"War on drugs has opposite effect," the Now letters, Nov. 16.

Thanks for publishing Robert Sharpe's outstanding letter.

Sharpe was right on the money, especially when he wrote that the United
States is one of the most backward countries in the world regarding drug
policy. U.S. drug policy has been a total disaster.

My advice to Canada: carefully observe U.S. drug policy. Then do the
opposite. Don't follow us - we're lost.
