ROBBERY SUSPECT RETURNING TO STATE

Police Think Rosebud Witnessed
Boy's Fatal Shooting

A California woman accused of armed robbery and thought to be a witness to
a Boulder homicide last month is scheduled to be returned to Colorado
within a week, authorities said.

Tiffany Chanelle Rosebud, 22, remains at the Las Colinas Detention Facility
in Santee, Calif., where she's been since U.S. Border Patrol officers
arrested her on Nov. 1 while crossing the border from Tijuana, Mexico.

Her boyfriend, Antoine Alfonso Davires Harris, 21, remains a fugitive and
was last known to be in Mexico, where his grandmother wired him $150. He
faces a charge of second-degree murder in the shooting death of 14-year-old
Charles Castaway of Lafayette.

"The return of Ms. Rosebud is a significant first step toward resolving
this tragic death," Boulder police Detective Sgt. Kurt Weiler said Friday.

California, federal and local police are still searching for Harris.

"We have not gotten any significant leads since the first week," Weiler
added. "So we're hopeful that (Rosebud's) return to Boulder will help
generate some new leads."

Boulder sheriff's Lt. Steve Prentup, whose agency is responsible for
transporting prisoners from other areas, said at least one deputy will
escort Rosebud on a commercial flight from California to Colorado. For
security reasons he said he could not say when that will be.

He said Rosebud, who is about eight months pregnant, needs a waiver from a
doctor saying it is OK to fly.

Boulder police issued an arrest warrant for her on Oct. 31, accusing her
and Harris of robbing a Boulder woman of a bag of marijuana on Oct. 25, the
day Castaway was shot and killed as he rode in the back seat of a stolen
car on University Hill.

Police said Rosebud and Harris told the Boulder woman they wanted some
marijuana and after she reluctantly agreed to sell some to them, they
assaulted her and took the bag of marijuana.

The woman recognized Harris' photograph in the newspaper and called police.

Investigators think Rosebud was in Harris' car the night Castaway was
fatally shot.

Castaway was one of six teenagers and young men riding in the Honda that
night. Castaway's brother, Martin Castaway, 20, and a friend, Mike Lopez,
got into Harris' car with the intention of "ripping" him off during a
marijuana deal, according to a court document.

Those records also stated that Harris brandished a gun, causing the elder
Castaway and Lopez to return to the stolen Honda and begin following
Harris' vehicle.

Harris later told a relative that he fired a "warning shot" to stop the
Honda from following him.
