DRUGS: WHO'S TO HOLD OUR 'LEADERS' ACCOUNTABLE?
To the editor:
I took great interest in the column that you did in the Nov. 3 edition
(Accept Blame, Where Due).
We provide room and board for women and children that are homeless. The
vast majority of women that come to us have been doing illegal drugs.
It is interesting that you should mention the various government workers
who are to set examples in our society. It would amaze you and this
community if you knew how many persons who are to be the examples are into
drugs themselves.
We just had a situation in which a social worker was sitting across the
table from one of our clients making accusations about the client's former
lifestyle. This social worker was known by our client as a heavy purchaser
of cocaine. How do we keep those persons accountable as to there lifestyle?
Do we have all government salaried workers take regular drug tests at
random so as to keep them clean? What is the answer when leadership is not
accountable?
