'CHANGING THE RULE WOULD TELL TEENS IT'S OK TO SMOKE POT'

Zero-Tolerance Policy Has Its Reasons

There is no question this was a major tragedy, and I don't want to sound
like the bad guy. But Jason Ricciuti knew the rules. He signed an Athlete
Code of Conduct. He chose to smoke pot knowing the rules. He just got
caught. The risk was even higher on a hockey trip.

Again, I'm very sorry for the family's loss, but he ran the risk of getting
caught knowing the zero-tolerance rule.

They shouldn't change the rule because it would tell teenagers it's OK to
smoke pot.

Rules are in place for a reason, especially for kids.
