FEAR SELLS AND FEAR WON

To the editor:

Bravo to Vin Suprynowicz for another outstanding column: "Why do many
Nevadans favor the drug war?" (Nov. 24). I suggest the reason is
because the drug warriors won the propaganda war. Fear sells and fear
won. Logic lost.

I suggest the readers read: "Age of Propaganda: The use and abuse of
persuasion" by Anthony Pratkanis and Elliot Aronson. I suggest the readers
start with chapter 36, "Propaganda in the Third Reich," to observe the
parallels between the propaganda techniques our drug warriors are using
today and the same techniques Hitler and the Nazis used.

It's frightening -- very frightening.
