COPS SLOW TO RETURN POT

KILLALOE, Ont. (CP)-- Provincial police pampered this perplexed patient's
pilfered pot plants.

Then they delivered about 30 marijuana plants to cancer patient Rob Brown,
albeit 2 1/2 months after they were stolen.

The Ottawa Valley man says Ontario Provincial Police did a good job taking
care of his pot, but he's still upset it took so long to get them back.

Brown, who has a medical exemption that allows him to harvest and possess
marijuana, has been fighting to have his "medicine" returned since police
recovered the plants Sept. 20. A court ordered police to return the plants.

"If somebody had broken into an old-age home and had stolen medicine, it
would have been returned a long time ago without the expense of having to
go through proceedings in court and hiring a lawyer," he said.

Staff Sgt. Jim Graham said, "when it comes to marijuana plants, not
everybody can." he said.

"A court decision had to be made whether he was lawfully allowed to have
that returned to him."
