DON'T GO SOFT ON CANNABIS

CONGRATULATIONS on the excellent article in your Weekend Extra: The
billionaire, drugs and us (30/11).

This is very timely as the Gallop Government seeks to soften cannabis
laws and to peddle the myth that cannabis is relatively harmless when
we all know very well that all drugs cause some damage and when
cannabis is combined with alcohol, the effects escalate
dramatically.

There is much evidence-based research of the harm caused by regular
use of cannabis and our Government should be exercising a duty of care
to warn young people of the risks involved, rather than condoning the
use of small quantities.

We have seen the shocking results in South Australia, where they now
wish that they had not softened their cannabis laws.
