PET DOG SHOOTING REPORT DELAYED

London police are awaiting a report from the Centre of Forensic Sciences in
Toronto before an internal investigation into a botched drug raid that
killed a woman's pet dog is completed.

"Unfortunately, we're in (the centre's) hands right now until we get a
response," said Const. Paul Martin, speaking for the force.

City police broke into Marcie Carroll's apartment in October looking for
marijuana and gunned down her dog, Bear. Police used a search warrant that
didn't have her name on it.

Police Chief Brian Collins told the police services board at its monthly
meeting yesterday he had been led to believe the investigation would be
completed in a couple of days when he updated the board at its last meeting.

But "the complaint came in with new information, and further statements
needed to be taken."

Meanwhile, Collins told board members they will not necessarily see a
report on the completed investigation. He said he will issue a news release
on the outcome of the investigation to the public.

When the investigation was initially launched, Collins promised a "full and
transparent investigation."

Carroll's lawyer, Faisal Joseph, will be notified in writing about the
report's completion, Collins said.
