NONE OF THE ABOVE

Friday Forum poses the question, "Should the MBI spend its time cracking
down on pornographic material available in video-rental stores? Or would
you rather the MBI focus its attention on another vice, such as drugs or
prostitution?"

I would choose "None of the above."

I do not see the sense in prosecuting our citizens for victimless crimes.
This is a waste of money and resources and amounts to enforcement of a
moral code not unlike the Taliban's past enforcement of a strict
interpretation of Islam in Afghanistan.

If we are truly concerned about the effects of drugs and prostitution, we
should legalize these activities so we can better control them. As for
pornography, it has never been proven to have any harmful effects on the
consumer.

Common sense should dictate that we direct our resources to fighting real
crime and allow our citizens the freedom to make their own choices about
what they watch, what they ingest or whom they have sex with.
